A large part of my practice is supporting individuals who are struggling with concerns related to sex, intimacy, and relationships. However, not all issues need to be sexual or intimate in nature. Many clients who come for sex therapy find that they benefit from treatment of underlying concerns such as fear, anxiety, depression, trauma, lacking confidence, or low mood. Regardless of the cause, we will collaborate together, combining my knowledge of science-backed therapeutic techniques with your expertise of your life, experiences, and symptoms.

A humanistic, science backed approach

This isn’t Freud’s therapy. I use methods that are backed by decades of scientific evidence and are considered first-line treatment for many disorders, which includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and The Gottman Method (for couples).

I combine these approaches with humility and cultural sensitivity, knowing that while I may be the expert in the treatment, you are the expert in your life. This is why a person-centered, collaborative approach is so integral to the way that I work.

Depending on our gender, age, race, class, sexuality, and ability status, the greater systems in place don’t always work well for us. Despite historic ways of thinking in psychotherapy, we are not our sole source of distress. Sometimes, in order to be well, we must recognize and challenge the systems in place that are preventing us from healing, and find a way to rise above.
